If anything has surprised the San Francisco 49ers team and the fans, then that is the injury of Dre Greenlaw. The LB injured his Achilles while making a sprint during a punt. Without giving any warning, the LB went to the ground and it was later reported that his Achilles was torn.

The LB’s injury shocked everyone. Not only the 49ers players but also the Chiefs’ stars were shocked as well. It was Patrick Mahomes who pointed his finger at the injured Greenlaw and started claiming that someone got injured. He kept on screaming: 

No. 57 got injured. No. 57 is injured over there.

In the 49ers camp, there was sheer disbelief. Head coach Kyle Shanahan failed to believe his eyes. A microphone recorded his words that reflected:

Did Dre just get hurt running out on the field?
Kyle Shanahan said

A 49ers player who was standing close to the LB screamed a big “No” imagining the possible fate of the player. He might have known what had possibly happened to the LB.

George Kittle was also in disbelief as he said:

It was so unbelievable as the LB was not indulged in any rough style of playing. Nonetheless, it happened and the team had nothing to do.

Dre Greenlaw was an impact player for the Niners. He had done pretty well throughout the regular season. With the injury, the journey of the player in the regular season got difficult. A lot of torn Achilles injuries have occurred in this year’s NFL, with the players facing some serious challenges regarding their comeback.

Dre Greenlaw’s absence was discussed later also

Greenlaw’s absence created some room for the Chiefs, believed the panelists from the Inside the NFL show. Analyst Chris Long depicted how the Chiefs benefited from Greenlaw’s absence. 

Yeah, Fred Warner's reaction says it all. It is not only this guy. But it is like one of the best players on the defense. That tandem is such a game-changer. It gave the Chiefs a little bit of air, you know a little bit of breathing room on first and second down. He is great in the run, in the box but he's also good in coverage.

Greenlaw might have to go through surgery for the torn Achilles. The return will be a tough challenge for him. However, the Niners would expect an early return of the LB.
