“We can grind through it, but…”: LA Rams Quarterback Matthew Stafford’s elbow issues keeps him out

Matthew Stafford at practice
The LA Rams are one of the favorites to win the Lombardi trophy again this year but they have a huge question ahead of them as they prepare for this season, that is whether the man who led them on offence last season Matthew Stafford will be 100% when the new season begins against the Buffalo Bills at SoFi stadium.
Stafford had been having elbow issues with his throwing arm and earlier during the offseason required anti-inflammatory shot for the same. LA Rams are currently holding training camp at UC Irvine. Stafford had started practice when training camp began after not throwing the whole offseason but was practicing with precaution.
Now it seems to be causing more problems as on Monday, the Rams acknowledged that Stafford is still feeling some discomfort and that the team cut back this throwing during Monday’s practice because of it.

Most important things is Matthew Stafford being healthy on September 8

“We’d lessened Matthew’s workload today,” coach Sean McVay told reporters on Monday. “Really when we look at it, we’ve got five weeks until September 8. He’s still feeling a little bit of pain, he could push through it. He ended up getting about 40 to 50 throws in individual.
“We didn’t take part in the team activities and that’s really more a result of he’s got so much experience. The most important thing is for him feeling good and healthy on September 8. We could certainly push and he could really grind through this, but that’s not the goal with somebody like him. It’s not something that we’re concerned about.”

Rams won the Super Bowl after defeating Cincinnati Bengals with Stafford at Quarterback. The Rams traded for Stafford from Detroit Lions for a huge bounty is 34 years old and is not young enough to be careless with an injury like this as an elbow can hugely impact Stafford and his team’s fortunes. If the injury persists or gets aggravated it can be a huge detriment to a team hoping to win back to back Super Bowls.
