The Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson made it clear that he will not be paying for Twitter’s new verification policy implemented by CEO Elon Musk. Jackson, among many others, briefly lost their blue tick on Thursday.
Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk, implemented a new policy after he bought the social media that every user, including celebrities and athletes, should pay $8 per month for the verification badge that shows their account is legit. Along with the verification badge, Twitter Blue offers plenty of other benefits, but it pissed off a lot of people who already had their verification badge.
The NBA legend LeBron James and many other famed athletes and celebrities openly criticized the 2nd richest man on the planet over his new subscription policy on Twitter. And now, the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has also refused to pay for the verification. The new policy was implemented on April 20 and the 2-time Pro Bowl QB, among others, lost his verification badge.
“Wait we don’t have a blue check anymore? [laughing emoji] Since when?” tweeted Jackson after losing his blue tick. A Twitter user reminded him that he has to pay for it now. “I had it for years for free, keep it,” Jackson replied after he was reminded that it’s a subscription perk now.
Nevertheless, after a brief period, plenty of celebrities, including Lamar Jackson, got their new verification back. It is unsure if Jackson paid for his blue tick, but plenty of people who got their verification back have claimed that they’ve not subscribed to Twitter Blue.

Lamar Jackson expected to play under the franchise tag for the Ravens
Jalen Hurts, who still has a year left on his rookie contract, recently agreed to a 5-year extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, which made him the highest-paid NFL player ever.
But Lamar Jackson, who played the 2022 season on the 5th-year option is still struggling to get a long-term deal done with an NFL franchise and is expected to play for the Ravens under the non-exclusive franchise tag worth $32.4 million.
Jackson was placed under the non-exclusive tag by the Ravens after he requested a trade from the Baltimore-based franchise in early March. However, the 27-year-old QB hasn’t received interest from any other team.
So, the 2-time Pro Bowl QB will probably play for the Ravens on a contract year. Furthermore, the Ravens adding the Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. might play a huge part in Jackson’s future decision.
