As the 2023 NFL regular season comes to an end, the Baltimore Ravens have emerged as the best team across the league, standing atop the AFC seed with a 13-3 season standings and its quarterback leading the MVP race. Lamar Jackson seemed to have locked in the award for himself after his five-touchdown performance on New Year’s Day.

And there’s one person who expressed full support for Jackson winning the MVP. That’s Colin Cowherd. If he could give the NFL MVP award today, he would give it to the Baltimore Ravens quarterback. The FS1 sports analyst strongly advocated an MVP case for Jackson, who is also the frontrunner in the race with -170 odds.

Cowherd mentioned that there are certain things upon which he would never want to debate, like whether or not the vaccines worked and saved millions of older Americans, or whether California is not the worst place to live, and that Tom Cruz can act.

Just like these, he is not going to debate his opinion on the Ravens’ QB, believing he is “really special.“

Cowherd said

He called out Jackson’s critics and emphasized that Patrick Mahomes has never had a perfect passer rating.

While talking about why the Ravens’ QB deserves to win the MVP title, FS1’s Cowherd also mentioned the New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers, who was considered to be the most talented quarterback in this league during his prime. As he believes, Jackson played to the level of Rodgers’ in his prime days.

They [Baltimore Ravens] score 10 and a half points more when he [Lamar Jackson] plays than when he doesn't. And that number is significant. That's the number Vegas odds makers felt that Aaron Rodgers was worth in his prime -- 10 and 11 points a game when Rodgers was the most talented quarterback in this league and that was considered four to five points more to even good quarterbacks. That's where Lamar is.
He said

Moving forward Cowherd highlighted he didn’t have much faith in Jackson when he was drafted back in 2018, as he thought of the quarterback as a “skinny kid who ran a lot.”

Many teams even passed him during the draft pick, but today he is “the most dominating player in the league and going to win his second MVP.“
