On Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs led by their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed to secure a victory against the New York Jets in their week 4 matchup. It was a really close game between the Jets and the Chiefs on Sunday and there were several questionable calls made by referees which benefited the Chiefs during the final minutes of the game. After the game, the NFL social media team hyping Taylor Swift‘s presence didn’t sit well with fans, who were already baffled by the questionable calls.

Just hours after the Chiefs defeated the New York-based football team on Sunday, the NFL Instagram page updated their bio to “Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties” referring to Kansas City’s 2 victories in week 3 and week 4 while Taylor Swift was in attendance to support her alleged boyfriend and the Chiefs’ All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce in action.

This update came in the midst of controversy regarding a couple of questionable calls referees made against New York in the 4th quarter on Sunday. First, during a crucial 3rd down, when the Chiefs needed 22 yards, the referees failed to call a penalty on left tackle Donovan Smith, who held the Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson for nearly 5 seconds which helped Mahomes to scramble for 22 yards and get a fresh set of downs for his team.

Shortly after that blatant no-call, refs called a questionable holding penalty on the Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, which negated a Patrick Mahomes interception. As a result, Zach Wilson and the Jets never got the ball and suffered a 23-20 loss against the Kansas City-based football team. With that loss, the Jets fell to 1-3 and find themselves in big trouble early in the season.

Social media not happy with NFL hyping Taylor Swift and the Chiefs

NFL fans on social media were pi**d at the league’s social handles for hyping up the 12-time Grammy Award-winner Taylor Swift’s presence at the game in the middle of the controversy about the Chiefs victory due to questionable calls by the referees. Some fans made wild theories that the league would give a free pass for Kansas City to the Super Bowls so that they could make money off of Swift’s huge fanbase.
