The debate about whether Dak Prescott can lead the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl is heating up. Every year for the past few seasons, it’s been the same scenario with the Cowboys. Football pundits always present a difference of opinion. Going into the 2023 season, the situation is no different—at least LeSean McCoy believes so.

McCoy has lost faith in Prescott, who, according to him, is the main reason for the Cowboys missing out on the Super Bowl. While debating on Fox’s Speak, host Emmanuel Acho asked McCoy, Can the Cowboys win it? He pointed out that there have been few positive changes this season for the Cowboys, and can they replicate Troy Aikman’s era?

In reply, McCoy starts, “Even if there are changes, that doesn’t mean they can achieve the same results as the 90s. The main reason they can’t win, is the quarterback, because Dak Prescott is still there.”

McCoy reminded everyone of the 49ers game in last season’s playoff, which the Cowboys lost. According to him, Prescott was basically a spectator during the game and had no impact. “They (the 49ers) should have won the game by 30 points; the defense (the Cowboys) shut them down, and they only scored 19 because of the turnovers that Dak caused.”

The Cowboys lost the Playoffs by a 19-12 scoreline, and in the fourth quarter alone, they conceded 10 points. Prescott threw for 206 yards and recorded one touchdown and two interceptions.

Will the new signings help the Cowboys and Dak Prescott reach the Super Bowl?

Everyone has the same question in mind: can the Cowboys go one step further than the Playoffs this year? They have been faltering at the same stage for the past two seasons.

McCoy is not counting on another 12-5 season with Dak Prescott leading them. He has a suggestion for the Cowboys, “It’s time to make a change. Every year they do the same thing on defense, with Micah Parsons getting all these sacks. Cee Dee Lamb getting better and better and better. Tony Pollard is emerging. In defense, Diggs (Trevon) is great, but to win big games, you can’t do that with that quarterback.”

The Cowboys already have a well-balanced squad with depth all around. Moreover, they added to their squad in the 2023 NFL Draft the likes of Mazi Smith, Vilami Fehoko, and, most notably, Deuce Vaughn.

Meanwhile, head coach Mike McCarthy will most likely be the offensive caller during the games. Will this change the Cowboys’ fortunes? Only time will tell.
