The Bill Belichick era in New England might be coming to an end. After a poor start to the season, the pressure on the legendary is increasing. The Patriots have struggled since their former QB Tom Brady left the team at the start of the 2020 season. Once a postseason mainstay, the Patriots have been to the playoffs only once, in 2021, after Brady’s departure.

The Pats have started the 2023 season losing four of the first five games. They have struggled to score consistently, ranking 24th in total offense through five weeks. Most of the blame has been directed towards Belichick. Former NFL player and current Fox Sports analyst LeSean McCoy believes that Belichick deserves all the blame for the Pats’ horrific start to the season.

“Yes. I’m going with that.” McCoy said when asked if all the blame should be placed on Belichick. “It has to be Bill Belichick. When you look at the Patriots from all the great years they had, you talk about Tom Brady, but a lot of that, they gave it to Belichick.”

He further continued, “When I watch this team, there’s nothing about them that talks about the “Patriots way.” They’re tough on defense. I can’t tell, they’re getting smoked every week. I don’t see no development.” He concluded by saying, “It’s time for Bill to go.”

The Patriots have allowed 72 points in their last two games and have struggled to score. They currently have the worst record in their division. They will play their next game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Super Bowl champion Bernard Pollard believes that Patriots should start over by firing Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick’s worst start to a season as the New England Patriots‘ head coach has increased the pressure on him. The team has lost four out of five games this season. Former Super Bowl champion Bernard Pollard claims that the Patriots should cut ties with Belichick and start over.

“It’s going to have to be a new coach,” Pollard said on OutKick’s Hot Mic. “And that’s the crazy thing because we’ve seen this team be so dominant, winning the [AFC] East every single year. But I’m seeing an organization, I’m seeing a football team that’s terrible. I don’t know if this is the way Belichick wants to go out or wanted to go out, but I think this is going to be the way he goes out.”

For the Patriots to make the playoffs this season, they will have to win a lot of games from here on. They will look to begin that streak from next week against the Las Vegas Raiders at the Allegiant Stadium.
