The Detroit Lions defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round. The victory became a delight for the city of Detroit. Thousands of fans gathered on the streets as their beloved team marched on to the NFC championship game. Jared Goff and the Lions created history by beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23.
As the news spread, thousands of Lions fans flocked to the streets of downtown Detroit. Soon, they started celebrating with their chants. It was three decades back when the Lions won a divisional playoff game. Head coach Dan Campbell and QB Jared Goff have done an excellent job leading the Lions this season.

From the very beginning of the season, the Lions triggered hope among the fans. They beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the very first game and finished their season with a 12-5 record. They became the NFC North champion and advanced to the playoffs.
In the wildcard round, the Lions beat the Rams in a hard-fought battle. It was their first step towards making history. With the first playoff win in more than three decades, the team advanced to face the Bucs in the divisional round. The Buccaneers have also produced a lot of surprises this season.
The Bucs gave a strong fight but not enough to seal a victory against the Lions. Goff registered a stellar performance with two touchdowns for 287 yards. The city of Detroit will have more reasons to celebrate if the Lions can defeat the San Fransisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
As Detroit Lions celebrates, Baker Mayfield bows out after stellar season
The Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield went head-to-head against Jared Goff in the divisional round. He was on the verge of taking the Bucs back to the NFC Championship game. Tom Brady took the Bucs to the NFC Championship game in 2021. However, Mayfield fell well short of making it.
Mayfield did not have the best game. He had two vital interceptions that helped the Lions to win. Besides that, he had three touchdowns for 349 yards. Nevertheless, that was not enough to carry his team forward.

Despite a poor playoff game, the QB had a great regular season. He became the second Bucs QB after Brady to register more than 300 yards in a single game in the playoffs. Coming into the season, many doubted Mayfield. However, he performed admirably and helped the Bucs retain their NFC South Division title. Hopefully, Baker can emulate his form in the coming seasons for the Buccaneers.
