The Tennessee Titans didn’t waste a second to sign L’Jarius Sneed, who is coming off a Super Bowl victory, as soon as he became available. It had been anticipated that the reigning Super Bowl champions would have to let go of their star cornerback as they couldn’t afford him.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday, that the Titans signed a lucrative four-year contract worth $76.4 million with Sneed, including a signing bonus of $20 million and $55 million in guaranteed money. Multiple sources confirmed the news after the trade was officially announced last Friday night.
If the cornerback had played another season with the Kansas City Chiefs, who are aiming for a three-peat, in the one-year franchise tag, he would have been earning $700,000. But he chose to go in another direction and now would earn an average annual value of $19.1 million per year.
Sneed now stands among the seven highest-paid cornerbacks in the league, having a solid contractual security. The Chiefs traded the cornerback in exchange for the 2025 third-round pick and 2024 seventh-round selections.
Even though the trade cost doesn’t cover the loss of the two-time Super Bowl champion, the Chiefs already got the most out of the star player on his affordable rookie contract. When it was finally time to offer an expensive deal, the franchise shipped him off to another team– reflecting how Kansas City strategized the offseason and remained competitive.
Fan reaction to L’Jarius Sneed signing a huge contract with the Titans
After four years of wearing red, fans wouldn’t see the NFL’s top cornerback in red anymore. Instead, he would be sporting blue now that he has joined the Titans. He’s coming off a remarkable season recording his career-high 14 passes defended and zero allowed touchdowns.

“Is this too much?!” wrote one fan, while another wrote, “Titans winning the super bowl.” His departure from the Chiefs triggered mixed reactions from fans. Here are some of the reactions.
Some fans celebrated Sneed’s new journey and some questioned whether the cornerback was worth such a huge contract deal. Some even predicted the Titans’ Super Bowl victory next season. Having such mixed responses, it remains in Sneed’s hands to stand by the words of his fans and prove he’s worth every penny offered.
