Luis Perez tried his luck in the NFL but struggled massively. However, it feels like he has found his feet playing in the XFL and has suddenly cemented himself as the best there.

Perez led the Arlington Renegades to the XFL championships and surprisingly won it. They were up against the DC Defenders and were serious underdogs going into the game.

The former LA Rams QB delivered an MVP-level performance and surprised everyone. However, he still got roasted on social media and that’s because of his pregame speech.

Usually, a leader tries his best to rile up the squad, and that’s what Perez did when he called the Renegades ‘the World Champions’ if they go out and win against the DC Defenders. Although his emotions were completely accepted, the content of the motivational speech was thoroughly wrong. The former NFL recruit started his speech really well and asked his teammates to not give up and give their best shot for the most important game of the season.

However, it was towards the end of his speech that he faltered massively. “Let’s finish the damn game and we’re world champs!” Luis Perez stated in his speech.

The XFL and the NFL viewers were furious after Luis Perez’s ‘World Champions’ admission and immediately took to Twitter to call out the QB. XFL is one of the smaller football leagues in the country and its reach and viewership is way less than the NFL.

The players playing in the XFL are also usually NFL outcasts or people who couldn’t get a shot in the best league in the country. NFL Twitter pointed out the same thing and stated that Perez would be a world champion if he was to win the iconic Super Bowl.

There were also some who called out American sports in general and their desire to be world champions by playing their sport in just one country. To be a world champion, many countries must be involved. In hindsight, Super Bowl winners would be the champions of the country. On the other hand, XFL isn’t even that.

Despite all the roasts and insults aside, Luis Perez is back on the radar of many NFL teams after he won the XFL MVP for his exceptional performance in the finals against the DC Defenders.
