Running backs have always been one of the key components of any football team. With all the chatter about them not getting paid enough, some are looking to make waves elsewhere, like Ezekiel Elliott. The former Dallas Cowboys player reportedly visited the New England Patriots facility yesterday and was filmed having a meal with quarterback Mac Jones.
Elliott, who was recently in the news for doggy business, has been a free agent since March after leaving the Cowboys. Few even questioned the market as to why no franchise was coming in for him. But yesterday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the 28-year-old is on a tour of the Patriots camp. The Patriots signing the three-time Pro Bowler would be a boon considering they are weak in the RB department.
Not only that but to fuel the fire, Elliott was clicked with quarterback Mac Jones while eating at a restaurant on Providence’s Federal Hill. Was Jones trying to convince Elliott to join the Patriots? Maybe. Even though Bill Belichick’s side was one of the first to show interest, there were rumors that the Cowboys themselves would look to keep their player.
However, Dallas insider Jane Slater revealed the talks did not progress. “They’re just not talking about it,” Slater told CBS. “I asked if they would bring him back.” To her dismay, she claimed the Cowboys spokesperson said it would only happen if one of the running backs got injured. According to her, the players admire Elliott in the locker room.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys will stick with franchised Tony Pollard for 2023. They also have former Buccaneers starter Ronald Jones and promising rookie Deuce Vaughn.

Ezekiel Elliott leaves the New England Patriots without a contract
Elliott’s appearance on the Patriots’ turf had the fans riled up for good news, but they have to wait a while to bring out the fireworks. As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported, the running back’s visit ended without a contract.
ESPN’s Ed Werder revealed that head coach Bill Belichick had spoken with Dallas Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones about their former player. He wanted a second opinion before going forward with any deal.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel Elliott has been posting several workout videos to keep all the other franchises on their toes. Similar to Dalvin Cook, who looks to be on his way to the New York Jets.
Elliott spent seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He led the NFL in rushing attempts and rushing yards twice (2016, 2018). Last year, he ran for 876 yards and scored 12 touchdowns.
