“Get your complaints in now”: Madden 23 hotline receives 1000 calls on opening

Each year around this time as the world tracks all the off season moves of their favorite teams and players, Madden the official NFL video game tries to build up its hype by releasing it’s official ratings of various players. Every time the ratings are announced there is a player or his fans who are not happy with the rating, and social media blows up criticizing Madden and it’s rating system.
This year was no exception when Madden 23 and EA the company behind the game faced major backlash on social media for some of its head scratching ratings and ranking of players like-
Last year’s Cincinnati Bengals rookie sensation Ja’Marr Chase wasn’t even in the top 10 wide receivers, which led to some hilariously encouraging words from the GOAT Tampa Bay Buccaneer Quarterback. Tom Brady himself was part of a Madden controversy when he was rated above 2 year running consecutive MVP Green Bay Packer Aaron Rodgers.

Similar to Chase, Deebo Samuel San Francisco 49ers wide receiver who had a prolific last season was rated too low in NFL world’s opinion. Another case is of Justin Tucker the Chargers kicker who is one of the best kickers in the game today if not the best got 90 only.
So Madden and its producers decided to be creative this year and decided to provide a hotline where fans and possibly even players can have their complaints and other comments heard by the company but they were probably not expecting 1000 calls in six hours.
But that’s to be expected when all corners of social media are panning some of the ratings in all sorts of ways. Pat McAfee is someone who never shies away from saying what’s on his mind and he was also among those not happy with the ratings, specially when Jonathan Taylor the Colts ruining back was not given his due respect.
Imagine McAfee calling to complain about the ratings that would be phone call the world would want to hear. EA Sports said some people who call might be able to talk to one of the adjusters live, and if their arguments are valid and proven, there’s a possibility that feedback could influence a shift in a player’s rating.
So anyone reading who’s not satisfied with this year’s rating may try their luck to convince the folks at Madden to change it.
