The former New England Patriots cornerback, Malcolm Butler, was arrested earlier this month for driving in Rhode Island, under the influence of alcohol. Butler is promptly known for his historic interception in Super Bowl XLIX.
Earlier this month, Malcolm Butler was pulled over by a police car on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence, Rhode Island. As per the North Providence police report, he was driving a Mercedes-Benz E300 at 3:20 a.m., on March 16. The reason why he was pulled over was because his car was blocked by the lane westbound, causing traffic disruption.

When the police officer approached his vehicle, Butler smelled of alcohol and showed several other signs of being intoxicated. The former NFL Cornerback claimed he was coming from his studio in Providence, but his response was reported to be “extremely” slurred and delayed. The officer also noted he had bloodshot eyes and was sweating copiously.
He was arrested when he refused to take the sobriety tests, saying, “Just take me to jail.” Butler was later brought to the North Providence Police Department headquarters, where his fingerprints and photographs were taken.

In addition to the DUI charge, the former Patriots star cornerback is facing two more charges. First, refusing to submit to the sobriety test and second, for stopping or parking in an intersection. As his car was stopped in the westbound lane of Mineral Spring Avenue.
The news of Butler’s arrest was first reported by WPRI, which also revealed former Rhode Island House Speaker John Harwood, who is Butler’s attorney, has filed a motion to dismiss his DUI charges. Harwood argues that the cornerback’s constitutional rights given under the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and 14th Amendments have been violated.
