“I have no ego,” Marcus Mariota makes huge admission on the prospect of playing second fiddle for Atlanta Falcons after 2022 draft

Marcus Mariota made the move to the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason, after spending two years with the Las Vegas Raiders as a backup quarterback for Derek Carr. The 28-year did not have many opportunities at the Raiders as he hoped for a change in role while signing for the Falcons.
It has now emerged that his new franchise might even draft in a quarterback during the 2022 NFL draft, which is scheduled to be held later this month. He joined the Falcons after being pursued by head coach Arthur Smith.

However, Marcus Mariota is not too disappointed at the prospect of once again ending up as the second choice quarterback at a franchise, and in fact claimed that he would be more than happy to do so.
Marcus Mariota claimed that he does not have any ego, and is looking to pass on his experience on to the quarterback Atlanta Falcons eventually decide to bring into the squad.
“If it’s not me, it’s OK, too,” Mariota told NFL Network’s Steve Wyche in a piece for the Falcons’ team website. “I’ve been in this situation before. It’s a ‘control what I can control,’ mindset.”
“I have no ego. I can be an ear and listen. Teams are going to do what they’re going to do. If they do draft someone, I’ll give as much advice and knowledge as I can. If not, I’m ready to roll.”
Mariota also said that he will be relishing the challenge of playing for the Falcons next season, despite whatever happens in the NFL draft and he wants to fight for his starting QB spot rather than being simply being handed the role.
