Marcus Mariota is an experienced QB who was recently signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent. The 29-year-old QB was drafted in the first round of the NFL 2015 draft and was quite the hype during the time.

It is believed that the Eagles were trying to trade up for the QB, but couldn’t. However, Mariota was not much impressive in the NFL and soon took up the reliable role of the backup QB.

After getting drafted by the Titans, Mariota moved to the Raiders after one season and was a backup to Derek Carr throughout that time. Last year, he was signed by the Falcons but was released after just one season with them.

Mariota now looks forward to life with the Eagles and hopes to be a reliable backup to the talented QB Jalen Hurts. The 29-year-old QB was exhilarated at the opportunity of playing with Hurts and is actively looking forward to it. Hurts is currently one of the best QBs in the NFL who delivered a sensational performance last season.

The Eagles’ backup QB also spoke about his experience in the NFL till now, and how everything has shaped up to make him who he is today. Mariota desires to make Hurts a better QB than he is currently.

I’m at a point in my career where I just want to enjoy the game,Marcus Mariota stated on Wednesday. “I want to have fun doing it. The scheme is very exciting for me, and the fact of the matter is, I feel like I can help Jalen. If we can make Jalen a better player, this team is going to be better.”

Marcus Mariota joined the Eagles for a deep postseason run

The Eagles will be looking to make a deep run in the postseason this year as well. Last season, the Philadelphia-based team made it to the Super Bowl finals. That’s the reason why Marcus Mariota has decided to be a backup in this organization.

Mariota will be part of a great squad that will look to win their division while also winning their conference. Ultimately, he wants to challenge for the Super Bowl.

“To be part of a team that was a play away from winning the Super Bowl was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Mariota said. “I’m very excited to be in this quarterback room. I think it’s important that you have a strong quarterback room. Like I said, I’m going to do whatever I can to help (Hurts) out.”

The former Falcons QB looks forward to helping Jalen Hurts out and creating a strong QB department in Philadelphia. Mariota’s reliability and experience will be beneficial for the Eagles who look to challenge the Lombardi this year as well.
