The future of the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is still up in the air since no team in the NFL is making any moves to acquire the 26-year-old quarterback. It seems like, Jackson would stay with the Ravens and play for them in 2023 under the non-franchise tag.
After months and months of failed contract talks, the Baltimore Ravens placed their dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson under the non-exclusive franchise tag. The move allowed Jackson to negotiate with other teams. But unfortunately for Jackson, no team showed interest in pursuing him. In fact, a lot of QB-needy teams openly said that they are not interested in signing the 2-time Pro Bowl QB.
The rumors were that the teams were not interested in Lamar since he was looking for a fully guaranteed contract in the pay range of the Browns QB Deshaun Watson. Furthermore, since Lamar’s under a franchise tag, it would also cost some draft capital for the team that is willing to sign the All-Pro QB. So, since the price is too high for one position most teams just aren’t willing to take that risk on a QB who has missed 10 games in the last two regular seasons.
Amidst this situation, the former Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears claims that the Ravens organization must come to their terms that they might be going into a new era post-Lamar Jackson.

Marcus Spears gives his two cents on the Lamar Jackson situation
During a recent episode of NFL Live on ESPN, analyst Marcus Spears wants the Ravens to realize their situation and trade up in the draft to get a good quarterback to reboot their franchise.
“These teams (AFC North) are getting better, everybody thinks Kenny Pickett is going to take a step forward, we know Deshaun is in Cleveland, probably gonna be better than he was coming off not playing and obviously Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. The other part of this is for the Baltimore Ravens, philosophically you may be changing,” said Spears.
“The Ravens should be in the market for trying to trade up and get one of these quarterbacks,” said Spears. “That’s a reality that the organization and these fans have to come to, that you may be going into a new era post-Lamar Jackson.”
Other than the Ravens, no other team in the league has shown interest in obtaining the former league MVP QB. So, maybe in the future, Lamar will realize there’s no market for him and will cut down his asking price to play for the Baltimore-based franchise again.
