Jalen Hurts has announced his arrival in the NFL!

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Hurts 53rd overall in the 2020 NFL draft. He didn’t play as a starter during his entire rookie season but did make a few starts. In his second season, he was named the starter by new head coach Nick Sirianni and led the Eagles to a 9-8 season and took them to the wild-card game. However, Philly was defeated by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

The Alabama alum showed his worth in the 2022 season. During the entire season including the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts lost only 2 games! This is a testament to the level at which he can play for the next decade and more. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie recently stated that money is not an issue for them and that they love Hurts and he is everything the franchise is looking for in a quarterback.

In Super Bowl LVII, Jalen Hurts started the Eagles off to a great start as they entered the second half of the game with a 10-point lead. However, the team came up short, and that unlucky holding penalty in the final minute of the fourth quarter guaranteed their loss. However, Hurts’ performance was by far the best and statistically speaking, even better than Patrick Mahomes.

Former NFL player turned analysts Marcus Spears talked about Hurts and how he has turned into a great quarterback over the years on the latest episode of ESPN’s Get Up. “Everything you saw in the Super Bowl and all season long is a testament to Jalen Hurts’ work,” Spears said. “We talk about how he would approach being a starting quarterback in the NFL. We talk about how mature he is, says the right thing. The thing that gets lost in all of that is he had become a better QB each and every year he’s taken the field.”

Spears added, “113 million people watched that Super Bowl and you could not tell any deficiency between [Jalen Hurts] and Patrick Mahomes. If you turned on the TV in that game for the first time watching the NFL football game. The dude in the green was better than the dude in the red.”

Mahomes threw for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns on his 21 passes. Hurts, on the other hand, threw for 304 yards and a touchdown and was lightning-quick on his feet as well. He rushed for 70 yards and 3 touchdowns on 15 carries. He set the record for most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in Super Bowl. Other than his fumble, which added six points to the scoreboard for the Chiefs, Jalen Hurts had a Super Bowl MVP-worthy performance and clearly deserved the award.

The entire city of Philadelphia should be excited about Jalen Hurts spending the next 5-10 years with the Eagles because he is definitely going to lead the team to the playoffs every year. Experts are saying that Hurts will get a massive contract extension from the Eagles with a $45M to $50M per year salary. It’ll be interesting to see Hurts dominate in the NFC for years to come!
