Marcus Spears LAMBASTS Carson Palmer for his ‘dumb’ comments about how Joe Burrow is a better QB than Patrick Mahomes

Last week, the former Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer created a storm on social media by saying that Joe Burrow is a better signal caller than the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. His comments ruffled a lot of feathers and angered a lot of people including the ESPN analyst Marcus Spears, who sounded off on Palmer on ESPN and called his comments dumb and asinine.
During his appearance on The QB Room Podcast last week, the former Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Palmer said that the Bengals QB Joe Burrow is a more consistent signal-caller than the 2-time league MVP Patrick Mahomes.
“I think Joe [Burrow] is the best quarterback in the league,” Carson Palmer said last week. “I know Patrick [Mahomes] is phenomenal, but I just think Joe’s more consistent. He’s more consistent. He’s more accountable to run the system and the play that’s called and not feel like, ‘Well, he didn’t win last time and get open for me, so I’m gonna do it with my feet,’ and then before you know it, you’re sacked for a four-yard loss because you tried to make two or three guys miss.”
His comments might be a little bit biased due to the Bengals’ connection. Because, as great as Burrow is, he still hasn’t achieved a lot in this league, certainly not as much as the Chiefs QB.
Mahomes has won 2 Super Bowl rings, 2 Super Bowl MVPs, and 2 league MVPs, has received 5 Pro Bow nods, and has been named to the first-team All-Pro squad 2 times. On the other hand, Burrow has received one Pro Bowl and has won 1 Comeback Player Year of the Award. So, clearly, Patrick Mahomes is the better QB currently.
Marcus Spears sounds off on Carson Palmer over his Joe Burrow-Patrick Mahomes take
During a recent episode of the NFL Live on ESPN, the former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears went off on Carson Palmer over his ‘dumb and asinine’ Joe Burrow-Patrick Mahomes comparison.
“I would rather Carson Palmer and anybody else just say they prefer the way Joe Burrow plays football, because saying that Joe Burrow is better than Patrick Mahomes, that’s dumb and that is asinine,” said Spears on Monday.
As previously mentioned, the Chiefs QB has a way better resume than Burrow but the latter does have the advantage over Mahomes when it comes to head-to-head matchups.
Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals would love to further that head-to-head victory count when they eventually face the Chiefs and Mahomes in Arrowhead in the 2023 regular season. The schedule isn’t even out now but this little comparison has lit a fire to that already-lit rivalry.
