Russell Wilson and criticism are no strangers to each other. If the number of times the quarterback has been scrutinized and criticized during his time in the Denver Broncos, is categorized, a pen would run out of ink.
After the huge trade deal, contract, and poor performance by Wilson last season, the quarterback played his best version, after rejuvenating in Denver under head coach Sean Payton. However, it didn’t last long, as in the most vital game for the team that probably would decide their playoff spot, the quarterback threw in four interceptions, one of which was during a crucial touchdown that Denver desperately needed.
With this game, all the prior efforts by the quarterback were crushed, and he again became a target for heavy criticism. Interestingly, this time three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth did not hold back from scrutinizing the Broncos QB.

He further said,
It was bad. It was just awful. First off, let’s talk about how many times you run yourself into trouble. How many times do you escape from the back of the pocket? How many times do you allow yourself to be forced out of a play? You scramble, you make a few yards, and everybody lauds you on your ability to get out of there. You are the one that put yourself into trouble.
Schlereth is anything but a sympathizer, and he never fails to prove that. This time, as he targeted Denver, he also acknowledged the offensive line was also at fault here, but not as much as quarterback Wilson.
Russell Wilson compared to former Denver QB Tim Tebow
While digging through the issues Denver Broncos have, in addition to quarterback Wilson, Schlereth also remembered one of the most popular quarterbacks in the franchise history, Tim Tebow, who reflected a similar career graph as Wilson.
It’s Tim Tebow-esque when you talk about 55 minutes of drag and we’re gonna praise you for the five minutes of good play at the end of a game? You’re the one that started the inferno.
Schlereth emphasized that the problem with Denver’s poor offensive play has been started by quarterback Wilson himself. If after that,
you finally douse out the ashes with water, you’re not the hero for putting the water out when it’s burned through all the fuel and it can no longer burn through anything.
Schlereth firmly believes it is high time that the team stops giving Wilson credit for adequate games that turned in their favor last moment.
