Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch has reached a resolution in his drunken driving case that took place in Las Vegas. The 37-year-old was able to avoid a trial or a conviction under DUI charge in connection to the matter. Lynch was found fast asleep in the driver’s seat of his damaged sports car in Vegas 18 months ago.
David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld represented Lynch and submitted an agreement to the city judge that did not involve a plea as per a court document obtained by Seattle Times. The former RB back will need to attend DUI traffic school and pay a fine of $1,140 to serve his penance. He is required to complete 200 hours of community service and attend a victim impact panel, after which he will avoid a misdemeanor DUI conviction.

Additional charges such as Misdemeanor charges of failure to drive in a travel lane and driving an unregistered vehicle were dismissed by the court. It is a case of a reckless driving offense as stated by his legal representatives.
Marshawn Lynch was arrested on August 9, 2022 over a DUI charge
The incident took place in the early hours of August 9, 2022, when law enforcement found him in his 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 parked along a downtown Las Vegas street. The vehicle was in a bad state as it had a front wheel missing and the rear wheel was significantly damaged. As per the local laws, individuals found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle are considered to be in physical control of the vehicle.

It does not matter if the vehicle is stationary or moving. Marshawn Lynch’s representatives argue that since he was not caught red-handed by the police while driving in an inebriated condition and the vehicle was found parked at the time of his arrest, he cannot be charged with a DUI. Lynch has found himself in trouble a few times after his retirement.
The former RB has kept himself engaged in business endeavors and giving back to the community after his retirement from the NFL in 2019. The Seattle Seahawks legend ended his career with five Pro Bowl selections, 10,413 career rushing yards, and 85 touchdowns throughout his career. This incident had fans worried when reports of the running back being found in such a condition arose, but eventually fans were grateful that Lynch was safe and sound.
