Every sportsperson’s dream is to be remembered in the hearts of the fans for long. The X-factor behind this wish is their performance. However, not everyone follows the same pattern. Some are standalone exceptions who want to be remembered for different reasons.
The wide receiver for Ohio State, Marvin Harrison Jr. wants to be in the heart of the people for being kind to others. In other words, the WR wants to make a name for his kindness and not for his performance among fans.
The wide receiver has had a dream college football career so far. He has caught 147 passes and has registered 29 touchdowns in 36 college games. He had a sluggish start in the beginning of his college football with just five catches for 68 yards in the first 12 games. However, over the last two years, the WR caught 142 catches in 24 games.
This year, he has been phenomenal. The WR registered 12 touchdowns for over 1,000 yards. He became the first Ohio State wide receiver to cover 1,000 yards this season and is a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy this year. What is more satisfying to him is that will be on the radar of multiple NFL teams very soon. Every college football associate wants to be a part of professional football, hence it is a ‘dream come true,’ moment for the wide receiver.
If he finally receives a call from any NFL team, then he will be the second one from his family to take part in the National Football League. His father Marvin Harrison is the Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver who played for the Indianapolis Colts. Will Marvin follow in his father’s footsteps? Only time will tell the story.
Marvin Jr. chose kindness over performance
Marvin Jr. revealed in an interview that he wants his name to be remembered for the person he was and not for the touchdowns he scored or the awards he got. He gave importance to his work ethic and claimed people should remember that he was honest with his work.
I don't want anyone to remember the awards, touchdowns, yards, whatever it may be. I just want people to remember the person who I was, you know? In the building, how was I as a teammate? How was my work ethic? I think my legacy will be my work ethic and the influence I had on my teammates.Marvin Harrison Jr. told GQ Sports
He also emphasized the fact that he treated everyone equally in the dressing room and never let anyone down. He wanted his teammates to remember that forever. Ohio State is currently on a roll and is undefeated this season. After facing Minnesota this week, they will lock horns with Michigan in a tight game next week.
