Just last month, Marvin Harrison Jr. expressed during a press interview his desire to play another season with the Ohio State Buckeyes so that he could complete an unfinished business. But the new year brings different news as the dynamic wide receiver made a U-turn and announced his eligibility for the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, the 21-year-old won the Biletnikoff Award last season and did not appear in the Buckeyes’ final game against Missouri State in the 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.‘s Big Board, Harrison Jr. could go as high as the 2nd overall pick.
He shared a post on social media to break the news.
I would like to thank God for blessing me with the abilities and great opportunity to play the game that I love at Ohio State University. I want to give thanks to everyone at The Ohio State University, [both] within and outside the football program.
Football fans have wild theories as to which franchise suits Marvin Harrison Jr. the best
Now the question is, where does he end up? If the draft goes according to Kiper’s predictions, then he will fall into the lap of the Washington Commanders. They would be in seventh heaven pairing Harrison with quarterback Sam Howell, who at one point during the 2023 season led the NFL in passing yards.
However, football fans on social media have their own preferences on which franchise should push to draft Harrison. Most of them want Harrison to link up with Kyler Murray at Arizona Cardinals who finished 4-13 in 2023. Not only that a few even threw in the Chicago Bears name as well.
Harrison became the first player in Buckeyes history to record back-to-back 1,000 yards. In the 2023 season, he caught 67 passes from quarterback Kyle McCord for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games. His sophomore campaign was impressive as well, with 77 catches for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Now all eyes turn to April 25th for the 2024 NFL Draft. Unlike Caleb Williams, Harrison Jr. hasn’t announced any preferred destinations as of yet.
