The Class of 2024 NFL Draft ought to write history as they are well established having an upper hand during the pre-draft process. The top prospects of the upcoming drafts are taking charge of their draft in their own hands and not letting the NFL formulate their journey in the National Football League.
First, it was potentially the No. 1 pick Caleb Williams, who refused to take the medical test at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. It led to a boatload of controversy as the USC quarterback was the first player in history to do so.
And now, it’s Marvin Harrison Jr., who is the top prospect for the New England Patriots. He chose not to participate in a workout at his school’s Pro Day. As reported by Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer, the Ohio State standout receiver decided not to work out, on Wednesday.
Breer wrote on X:
Ohio State Pro Day is today, and teams have been informed that all-everything WR Marvin Harrison Jr. will not be working out for scouts. Will be relatively quiet in Columbus, with so many high-end draft prospects choosing to stay in school, no GMs or HCs scheduled to be there.Albert Breer on X
Moreover, Harrison asked the nine teams he met at the Combine earlier, where too he did not participate, if they wanted to check out anything at the Buckeyes’ Pro Day. Since all of them declined, he chose to sit out and continue training for the upcoming season in Columbus.
Fans react to Marvin Harrison Jr.’s bold decision at Buckeyes’ Pro Day
Just like how Williams received a lot of hatred from the fans when he didn’t disclose his medical teams to all 32 teams in the NFL. Harrison’s decision at his Pro Day also didn’t sit well among the fans. Despite being honored with a two-time unanimous All-American award and the Fred Biletnikoff award making him the best receiver in the country, it didn’t spare him from the wrath of the fans.
One fan wrote, “Major red flag! This screams bust.” While another wrote, “Scared of competition.” Here are some more fan reactions:
Fans didn’t like Harrison’s autonomy over his decision, saying it screams red flags. They called him out questioning his character and saying if it was in their control, they wouldn’t draft him. His laidback attitude might certainly go a long way in affecting his trade.
