Marvin Harrison Jr. is the lone non-quarterback nominated for the Heisman Trophy in 2023. The Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver has unquestionably been one of the greatest in college football at his position.
Many believed Ohio State’s win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers was Harrison’s last-ever appearance at the Ohio Stadium. According to reports, the 21-year-old could end up being one of the top five picks in the 2024 NFL Draft if he chooses to enter.
Harrison might suit up for the Buckeyes again and complete his senior year, according to rumors. There’s a reason behind holding off the decision.
I wanted to beat the team up north and win a Big Ten championship, and obviously I did not do that this year, so I think there's a great motive to come back.Harrison in press conference on Thursday
Harrison further added:
As a freshman, you come to the Big Ten, a school like Ohio State where the Big Ten championship is played, and you want to play in Indiana so bad. Obviously, that has yet to happen for me. If I do decide to move on and not come back, I’m going to have to live with it.
Ohio State lost to the Michigan Wolverines on the last day of the regular college football season, 30-24, which ended their hopes of entering the playoffs. That loss means Harrison has never beaten their Big 10 rivals. The Buckeyes suffered a 23-45 defeat on the final day of the 2022 season.
Money will not influence Marvin Harrsion Jr.’s decision to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes next season
Marvin Harrison Jr. finished his third season at Ohio State with 1,211 receiving yards, 67 receptions, and 14 touchdowns. He had an average gain of a staggering 18.1. If he does get selected in the first round, it comes with a lot of perks. However, there’s plenty of money college football players earn through NIL deals. It’s enough to sway away from the NFL.
I don’t think it has any factor, really. If I were to come back, it would be for the reasons I mentioned before: just really beating the team up north and winning the Big Ten championship.
It is a tough decision for any young man looking to enter the NLF, especially for those who have been in the limelight like Marvin Harrsion Jr. or Caleb Williams. At the end of the day, they still have a lot of time to make up their minds.
