“There will be consequences if…”: Matt LaFleur is seemingly unhappy with Aaron Rodgers for missing ‘voluntary’ OTAs

Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur

Aaron Rodgers is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. No matter what he has said and done over the past year or so, one just can’t deny that he is indeed a fantastic quarterback who has a lot left in him. Ahead of the 2022 season, there was a lot of speculation about where Aaron will end up playing

The air around Rodgers’ future in the NFL cleared when he announced that he will continue to play for the Packers. It is evident that quite a few teams were interested in roping in the MVP from last season but the team from Green Bay managed to keep him in the side, even if it meant that they had to let go of Davante Adams.

With the season set to begin in a few months, a lot of teams have carved out the best possible combinations and have started with the OTAs, voluntary of course. However, as it turns out, Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur is not pleased with the absence of senior players from the practice.

I’m not comfortable with anybody not being here. I’d like ‘em all here,” LaFleur recently claimed as reported by Madison.com. “Again, it’s their choice. Next week is mandatory minicamp, so there’s consequences obviously for not coming,” he added. Aaron Rodgers is now an even bigger part of the franchise as the Packers have directed a lot of funds towards him and it won’t be wrong to say that Matt’s recent comments were directed towards the last season’s MVP.

Each guy has that right to make that choice. If you’re asking me, I want everybody here,” LaFleur said. “I think some of the thought processes may have changed over what’s transpired over the last two years, especially with our COVID situation where we didn’t have OTAs.

Matt claimed that the aim is to give maximum exposure to as many guys as possible. “I think it’s just more the mindset that we’re going to coach the guys that want to be here,” he said. “And we’re going to try and get those guys as good as possible (so) hopefully they’re in contention to make the roster when it comes down to it,” he added.
