Matt Rhule set to coach Nebraska College Football team after getting fired from the Carolina Panthers

Matt Rhule was fired by the Panthers recently after they had an abysmal start to the season. The Panthers lost 4 out of their 5 games, making him one of the worst coaches in the league.

However, the talented HC is known for turning around teams with newly developed systems and strategies. Therefore, the Nebraska College Football team came knocking and snatched away Rhule for an 8-year contract.

The Cornhuskers have put their faith in Rhule for 8 years as they desperately need a rebuild. This is not the first time the 47-year-old will be coaching college football as before signing with the Panthers, he had turned around downtrodden programs at Temple and Baylor.

“It is a tremendous honor to be chosen to lead the Nebraska football program,” Rhule said in a statement. “When you think of great, tradition-rich programs in college football, Nebraska is right at the top of the list.”

“The fan base is second to none, and I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to coach in Memorial Stadium on Tom Osborne Field. My family and I are so grateful to become a part of the Husker Family, and we can’t wait to get started.”

Matt Rhule was the fourth highest-paid coach in the NFL when he signed a $60 million deal in 2020. Although things didn’t last that long for him on that team.

Rhule has now focused his concentration on Nebraska College Football and will try his best to turn their season around as the last time they won a trophy was in the year 1997.

It is speculated that the 47-year-old HC will sign a comparatively big money contract with the Cornhuskers, though the details aren’t out yet and will be available on Monday.

“It is a privilege to welcome Coach Matt Rhule, his wife, Julie, and their family to Nebraska,” athletic director Trev Alberts said. “Coach Rhule has created a winning culture throughout his coaching career, and he will provide great leadership for the young men in our football program.”

Matt Rhule made his name in College Football where he turned around downtrodden teams into serious contenders. The same will be expected of him when he is unveiled by Nebraska on Monday.
