Matt Ryan had a disastrous outing with the Indianapolis Colts in the 2022 season. Following the disastrous outing, Ryan didn’t receive a lot of interest from NFL teams and now has signed a new deal with CBS Sports to broadcast certain games and work on some of their other shows. However, the 38-year-old QB has not ruled out a return to the field.
During his recent appearance on the SiriusXM NFL’s radio show, the former Atlanta Falcons QB explained why he decided to join the CBS team if he’s not willing to close the doors on playing football again.
“I’ve just learned, at least during my experience in the 15 years I’ve played, to just not shut any doors,” Ryan told SiriusXM. “That’s really the decision behind that. Like I said, I’m excited to kind of take this next step and to move forward, but at the same time, you never know what’s going to happen in this league. Anything can shake out, and so, we’ll see what happens.”
Ryan led the Colts to a 4-13 record and took some heavy beating in the backfield while playing behind a deflated offensive line.He registered 3057 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in the 11 games he started. The former league MVP will now work as a CBS analyst for the 2023 season, but certainly not ready to hang up the boots yet.

Will the league ever see Matt Ryan on the football field as a QB again?
Matt Ryan’s wife is Sarah Marshall, and the couple got married in 2010. He mentioned during his recent interview with Sirius XM, the 4-time Pro Bowl QB hasn’t officially retired yet. But what are the actual chances Ryan will ever play in the NFL again?
The former Falcons QB claims that all-stars have to be aligned for him to consider playing again. It could mean a lot of things, but let’s just assume he’s talking about getting a chance with contenders to play. If a team needs a QB at the later stages of the 2023 season, Ryan could potentially suit up again.
If a team like the San Francisco 49ers needed a QB, Ryan could step in and try to lead them to the playoffs. However, there are not a lot of teams that would need a QB to contend in the postseason even if their 1st string QB gets injured.
A team like the Houston Texans can use Matt Ryan as a bridge quarterback, but it’s highly unlikely Ryan would be willing to play for a team like the Texans at this stage of his career. In brief, it’s possible the league might’ve seen the last of Matt Ryan already.
