“Not a JOKE”: Matthew Stafford’s second concussion in two weeks has NFL Fans concerned

Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams are having far from a good season this year, the team lost 27-20 to the New Orleans Saints. The game was one in which QB Matthew Stafford was brought down by the Saints’ Demario Davis. It was a hard takedown and the quarterback was evaluated for a concussion.

He is yet to be placed in concussion protocol as a final result is yet to come. However, if it does turn out that he has a concussion, it will a matter of concern for not just the Rams but also Stafford. This would be his second concussion in two weeks.

Stafford had cleared the concussion protocol on Friday after missing the Rams game in Week 10. He ended up going to the locker room in the third quarter and it was determined that he was being evaluated for a concussion. Sean McVay, the HC for the Rams in his post-game presser stated that he was not certain if Stafford was in concussion protocol or not.

“I’ve got to talk to the doctors. Obviously we need to make a smart decision for Matthew and see where we’re at with that.” McVay stated. Matt Stafford was sacked for a 9-yard play loss, while this was the first sack for the Saints, it was the final play for Stafford in this particular game.

Matt Stafford’s situation has caught the attention of the NFL Players Association. Since the quarterback left concussion protocol on Friday and has had to enter it again, it is a matter of concern. The concussion reports are set to come by the end of Tuesday and if he does have one, he will have to be put in protocol once again.

The Rams will play the Kansas City Chiefs next week and they would want to have Stafford back for that game, however if he returns to protocol, the team’s season may virtually be over. Fans expressed their concerns on Twitter for the veteran quarterback after he took a second hit.

Is the Rams season done?

It is accurate.

Hopefully, not.

Our prayers are with Matt Stafford and his wife Kelly. It is not easy dealing with the possibility of having two concussions in two weeks.
