The Los Angeles Rams have the youngest roster in the NFL with an average age of less than 25. This might change after the roster cut deadline once the 53-man squad is finalized, but the team might still be the youngest in the league. This is proving to be a barrier for starting QB Matthew Stafford as he is seemingly not able to connect with his younger teammates.

Stafford, 35, is now a 14-year veteran of the league. He is finding it hard to connect with his rookie teammates because, according to his wife Kelly Stafford, his younger teammates are always on the phone. Stafford even asked his equipment staff to print out a “face book” to remember his teammates. Now that’s commitment!

On her podcast, The Morning After with Kelly Stafford, she said, “They get out of practice, and meetings during training camp, and they go straight to their phones. No one looks up from their phones.” She further continued by saying, “He’s [Matthew Stafford] like ‘I want them to see me not as a coach.’ They say ‘Sir’ to him and sh*t. He’s like ‘No, we’re on the same level here, we’re both playing in the league. Let me get to know you’.”

Stafford joined the Rams after the 2020 season and won the Super Bowl in his first season with them. The Rams’ last season did not go as smoothly as they suffered a lot of injuries and failed to make the playoffs. They will hope to overturn that this season and get back to the playoffs. Stafford will have to find a way to connect with his younger teammates as soon as possible.

Can Stafford lead the Rams back to the playoffs after a lackluster 2022 season?

Matthew Stafford was brilliant for the Los Angeles Rams during their Super Bowl run. Come 2022, the Rams finished with a record of 5-12. Injuries to key players derailed the Rams’ Super Bowl defense. They will now hope to get back to the playoffs with probably the youngest roster in the league this season. The key players will be back from injury, including Stafford.

All-Pro Defensive Tackle, Aaron Donald and star wideout Cooper Kupp missed most of last season due to injuries and will be back, fully healthy and ready to go. Stafford only played in 9 games last season and will be expected to lead a young Rams team to the playoffs.

The Rams got blown away by the Denver Broncos in their final preseason game with most of their starters not playing. They open their season against the Seattle Seahawks on September 10.
