Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders is one of the most talented defensive players in the NFL. He led the league last season in tackles for loss and had 12.5 sacks to go along with 81 pressures, his career best. He was also named the AFC Defensive MVP in last year’s Pro Bowl. What makes Crosby so elite is his work ethic and a “no days off” mentality.
In a recent interview with GQ Sports, Crosby talked about his mentality and how Kobe Bryant inspired his off-season training routine. “It’s been an incredible off-season. From a training aspect, I sat down with my nutrition guys, my strength staff, everyone I work with, to get ready for another off-season,” Crosby said.
Revealing the real inspiration as Bryant, he said, “I got this from Kobe [Bryant]: I make agreements with myself. I’ll be in the building by this time, I will do all these different things: I will hit this speed on the field, work up to this, etc.” He continued, “These are the things I’m pushing for and working toward. I still have a few [offseason] weeks left, but I’ll just say this, it’s been an incredible off-season.” Crosby also talked about his love for UFC, fashion, and jewelry.
Crosby enters his fifth season as a Raider and will hope to continue performing at an elite level for the Las Vegas-based team. They open their campaign against the Denver Broncos on September 10.
Maxx Crosby impressed by rookie Aidan O’Connell on his NFL debut
In the Raiders’ first preseason game of the season, rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell balled out. He impressed all those who were watching, especially his teammate Maxx Crosby.
In an interview during the Raiders and San Francisco 49ers preseason game, Crosby said, “Aidan is a baller. You could see what he does out there; he’s not second guessing himself.” O’Connell finished with 141 yards and one touchdown. He will be a backup to Jimmy Garoppolo to start the season.
O’Connell was drafted in the fourth round by the Raiders in the 2023 NFL draft. He will hope to learn as much as he can from his experienced teammates and if early signs are anything to go by, Garoppolo will have to be on his A game from the get-go.
The Raiders play the Los Angeles Rams in their second preseason game on Sunday. Fans can see a lot more of Aidan O’Connell in the remaining preseason games.
