Taking over the head coaching job in the middle of the season is hard for any experienced coach, let alone for someone who has very little prior experience. Antonio Pierce is in a similar situation after being appointed as the interim boss of the Las Vegas Raiders. Defensive end Maxx Crosby has some advice for his former linebacker coach.
The Raiders dropped a massive bomb on the NFL world yesterday by firing Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler. It was coming, considering their recent poor run of games and the growing frustration among star players. Despite the open session earlier this week discussing what can be done to turn their fortune, McDaniels time came to an end.

Owner Mark Davis chose Antonio Pierce for the role, who has been part of the Sin City franchise setup since 2022. So he is more or less versed in the Raiders philosophy and quite popular in the dressing room, not just as a capable manager but also as an individual who is known to showcase his emotional side too often.
When it comes to having their heart on their sleeves on the Vegas team, one name will be at the top of the list, and that’s Maxx Crosby. The “dawg” linebacker claims that Pierce is a very intense guy and a hype train, but the 45-year-old can’t match his intensity.
Crosby revealed in the latest segment of ‘The Rush with Maxx:’
We got our boy, Antonio Pierce, stepping in as the interim head coach. He’s as real as they come. Real Raider, from day one. He has been a Raiders’ fan since he was born. In his press conference, he wanted to match my energy. I already sent him a nice little text: 'No f-king chance!Maxx Crosby on ‘The Rush with Maxx’
Maxx Crosby said goodbye to Josh McDaniels
The Las Vegas Raiders signed Maxx Crosby during the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Grew up as a Lions fan and wanted to play for them, but ended up in Nevada. That hasn’t stopped him from being one of the best in the business when it comes to being a quarterback rusher.

Crosby, in 5 seasons as a Raider, has 279 tackles along with 44 sacks. Despite a down 2023 for the Silver and Blacks in general, leading to the sacking of Josh McDaniels, the 26-year-old has 48 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
Before welcoming Antonio Pierce as the new coach, he thanked McDaniels for his time at Allegiant Stadium. He said:
First off, just giving my thanks to Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. The second I got to know that he was going to be our next head coach. He reached out to me and ended up giving me a life-changing contract. I have got a ton of respect for those guys and wish them the best going forward.
The ex-Michigan Eagles alumnus secured a four-year $98 million extension as per Spotrac prior to the 2022 season. He repaid that with the best-ever career statistics, recording 89 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and a second Pro Bowl nomination.
