Disgraced Michigan State Spartans head coach Mel Tucker has been accused of violating the university’s sexual harassment policy. This new development comes after he was fired for ill-advised advancement toward prominent rape survivor and activist Brenda Tracy.

According to a USA Today report, Tucker masturbated and made sexual comments without her consent during an April 2022 phone call. Not only that, but the investigating officer found that the former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator engaged in inquisitive sexual harassment.

In his defense, Tucker claimed that he and Tracy were in a romantic relationship and had consensual ‘phone s*x,’ which differed from her account of the incident. On top of that, he failed to provide any evidence to back it up, and there was inconsistency in his statement regarding where he was that day.

During the inquiry, he claimed to be at home in Michigan or on a non-university-sponsored trip. However, the investigator, Virginia-based Title IX attorney Amanda Norris Ames, discovered Tucker to be in Florida at the time of the phone call. He took part in a charity golf tournament with the university’s money.

Ames found sufficient evidence that Tucker made unwanted advances on Tracy at least two times before the April 2022 phone call. The first was a shirtless FaceTime in November 2021. And the second was in spring 2022, after a Spartans football game. The 51-year-old would repeatedly ask Tracy to come to discreet places for meet-ups.

Tucker tried to make it personal and ended up cutting short the professional side of their relationship. Upon further investigation, Ames found that Tracy was offered additional ’employment benefits’ if she had submitted to his persistent demands.

These new sexual harassment allegations against Tucker have not gone down well with the social media community. Most point out that making non-consensual advances on someone whom he hired to speak against workplace sexual harassment is not only heinous but also foolish.

Tucker was relieved of his duties by Michigan State University. CNN published the institute’s statement. 

The university terminated Tucker’s contract for his admitted and undisputed behaviors. This has brought public disrespect, contempt, and ridicule upon the university.

If all the allegations made by Tracy are proven correct against Tucker, then he risks losing future coaching jobs. After a blockbuster 11-2 season with the Spartans, they gave him a 10-year $95 million contract, which became null and void following his dismissal from the post. Tucker has indicated that he may sue the university for wrongful termination. He hopes to recoup some of the remaining $80 million that he hasn’t received.
