C.J. Stroud has been a sensation this season. The Houston Texans’ second overall pick has been nothing short of brilliant through eight games of the season. He has broken multiple records and, at this point in the season, looks like a clear favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In the Texans’ last game on Sunday, Stroud broke the rookie record for passing yards with 470 in a dramatic 39-37 comeback victory.
Stroud has made a lot of fans with his play this season. Dallas Cowboys‘ defensemen, Micah Parsons and Stephon Gilmore are two of Stroud’s fans. In the latest episode of Parsons’ “The Edge” podcast, both the elite defensemen talked highly of the rookie quarterback. These players know about elite QBs as they have played with a handful of them.
Micah Parson said on the podcast:
I had said this pre draft that C.J. Stroud was QB1. He doesn't even look like he's a rookie.
Gilmore echoed Parsons’ sentiments by saying:
No he look like he in year 5, dominating.
Parsons continued:
There was an argument to see if Bijan [Robinson] or C.J. was going to be rookie of the year, I don't really think that it's a debate. C.J. Stroud is going to be an unanimous Offensive Rookie of the Year. I won't eve be close.
He further continued by saying:
C.J. set the single game rookie passing yards record with 470 yards and five touchdowns and the remarkable thing about C.J. is the way he did it. He led his team to win a game with 47 seconds left.
Gilmore chimed in:
That's elite. That's Tom Brady type stuff.
Parsons continued:
We are talking about Tom Brady level as a rookie quarterback. He's changing Houston.
Stroud has had a remarkable first half of the season. The rookie QB has thrown for 2,270 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this season. The remarkable part is, he has only thrown one interception. He has a rating of 102.9, which is better than a lot of experienced QBs currently in the league.
C.J. Stroud talks about Bengals’ Joe Burrow ahead of the Sunday afternoon clash
The Houston Texans will take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. It is a matchup between two of the best passers in the NFL. Bengals QB Joe Burrow is arguably the second-best quarterback in the league. Texans’ rookie QB C.J. Stroud is a frontrunner for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. It will be a tasty battle. Stroud talked about Burrow ahead of their matchup on Sunday.
Stroud said:
Joe is somebody that I respect a lot, was a big fan of his, especially when he was at LSU. Of course, he was at Ohio State so we got that similarity. We met each other over the summer and … He had a lot of great advice for me that I’m still using to this day, so he’s somebody I look up to. I have a lot of respect for him.
The Bengals are on a four-game winning streak and are looking to extend that this Sunday. The Texans on the other hand will come into the game on the back of a historic performance from Stroud enroute to a comeback victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Get the popcorn ready because this is going to be epic!
