After two seasons, Patrick Mahomes might finally have the service of a good wide receiver. After the departure of Tyreek Hill, Mahomes played without the service of an established wide receiver. Despite that, Mahomes held his splendid form and delivered world-class performances in consecutive two seasons. He targeted Travis Kelce often and the Kelce-Mahomes duo were a big hit.
Ahead of the NFL offseason, the Chiefs announced, they would go for an established wide receiver. As per their promise, they signed a one-year deal with the wide receiver Marquise Brown. After two underwhelming seasons in the Arizona Cardinals, the WR signed an 11 million deal with the Cheifs.
Brown has a very high potential. His 2021 season was very good with the Ravens. The WR was often targeted by Lamar Jackson. As a result, he bagged more than 1,000 receiving yards with 91 receptions. Unleashing this potential can take the Chiefs closer to their three-peat challenge.
Following this, the former Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Irvin claimed that Patrick Mahomes would be a different beast with the help of the wide receiver. In the latest episode of the Undisputed show, the former WR added:
Patrick Mahomes with this kind of talent is dangerous … You lose a Tyreek Hill, a guy that can knock the top off of any defense, and you go back-to-back championships … Giving this man anything is dangerous, giving him somebody dangerous that's really explosive in Marquise Hollywood Brown, has that ability … Hollywood is getting ready to really be Hollywood.Michael Irvin said
The Chiefs team and Brown both seem happy with the inclusion. Mahomes already shared positive tweets on X regarding Brown’s signing. Elsewhere, Brown was seen vibing to a song after getting the deal.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have had a fantastic offseason
Like the dominance on the gridiron, the Kansas City Chiefs bulldozed their opponents in the offseason as well. Ahead of the offseason, the Chiefs were unsure about retaining L’Jarius Sneed and Chris Jones. Sneed was targeted by the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the Chiefs used the franchise tag and bagged him for another season.
Like last year, Chris Jones’ contract was also an issue. But the Chiefs handled it perfectly. At the eleventh hour, they provided a mammoth $95 million deal.
With the retention of these two defensive pillars along with the inclusion of Brown, the Chiefs will be looking to be in a perfect position to achieve their three-peat goal in the coming time. Exciting times ahead for the Kansas City-based team.
