The NFL trade deadline has come to an end, yet there has been no action or announcement made by the Dallas Cowboys. The team is opting not to trade any players or future assets in a last-second deal to neat their current roster. Though many think the decision isn’t well thought out, the Cowboys owner and head coach seemed pretty happy with it.
As the deadline seemed to be over, NFL analyst Michael Irvin is not happy with the franchise’s owner Jerry Jones for sitting hand by hand during the NFL trade. On the other hand, the Cowboys’ divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles was on fire as they made a big trade and acquired two-time All-Pro safety Kevin Byard, traded from the Tennessee Titans.
While having a discussion on Undisputed with Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson, Irvin emphasized how bothered he was by the Cowboys standing pat during the trade deal.
Irvin said:
When you are in the playoff race, you are in the fight for the Super Bowl. Everybody is looking for any little thing to raise up the whole team, lift the whole team. San Francisco got that yesterday..Philly got that the other day when they got safety Byard. So going into this run, for Dallas not to have picked up anybody..that bothers me. I wanted Dallas to go into…because it sends a message to everybody 'Hey, we are all in, the locker room.'
Michael seemed more bothered that the San Francisco 49ers acquired defensive end Chase Young, in the trade deal the with Washington Commanders. Joining the 49ers, Young would reunite with his friend Nick Bosa. He added:
And even worse than Dallas not getting anybody, San Francisco put best friends back together and never got a chance to chase the quarterback
The former Cowboys wide receiver questioned the attitude of the Cowboys towards the trade deadline by highlighting how other teams have made the move of acquiring the best they can to win the Super Bowl.
Michael Irvin fails to acknowledge Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl chance
As Irvin only emphasizes teams like Philadelphia and San Francisco in the trade deal, former NFL wide receiver and analyst Keyshawn Johnson confronted him for neglecting a prominent trade deal by the Seattle Seahawks. Johnson said:
Don't just gloss over the Eagles, Washington..I'm just warning you, be careful.
With the third-longest odds at winning the Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks are in the count of the top three teams, with Texas and Falcons ahead. Seattle acquired defensive lineman Leonard Williams in the trade deal with the New York Giants, in exchange for a couple of draft picks of 2024 second-round and 2025 fifth-round selection.
William is considered an integral part of Seattle as he carries the reputation of a player who becomes a factor for the team instantly. Coach Pete Carroll seems to have high hopes for Williams, who can play anywhere and is considered to have a classic 3-technique.
