The Dallas Cowboys got off to a bad start in their NFL season with an opening day loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also lost their starting quarterback Dak Prescott due to a thumb injury against Tom Brady and Co.
It has been speculated that Dak Prescott will be requiring surgery and hence will be out of action for some weeks now. Earlier it was suggested that the Cowboys might be tempted to trade in Jimmy Garoppolo in place of Prescott.

For now, it seems like Cooper Rush will be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. However, Stephen A Smith has also suggested the name of Colin Kaepernick as a potential solution for the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking on “First Take”, Stephen A Smith proposed the name of Colin Kaepernick with unsigned Lamar Jackson also coming into the discussion.
“It will never happen, in my opinion, but might want to make that call to Colin Kaepernick,” Smith said. “Might want to find out — now he ain’t been around, but he’s a playmaker with his legs, who’s available. Now, I don’t think it will happen because this is the state of Texas, and the patriotic individuals that they pride themselves on being, since the whole Kaepernick narrative was hijacked. Jerry Jones is not gonna let it get in the way of business. But I would think about it — I would say that.”
However, Michael Irvin quickly brought this discussion to a close and said that Colin Kaepernick has been out of professional football for 5 years now and there’s no chance he’s going to impact the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, Michael Irvin said that Cooper Rush will be the better choice.
“Before everybody grabs this and tries to run with it, let’s stop with this Colin Kaepernick stuff,” Irvin said. “Let’s just stop. Colin Kaepernick’s been out of football for five years. Come on, let’s stop trying to resurrect Colin Kaepernick, and thinking he’s gonna come and resurrect a football team. I’ll take my chances with Cooper Rush. I saw Cooper Rush win a football game last year. That’s all I’m saying.”
