HOW BOUT’ THEM COWBOYS! Said no fan ever, at least not since the NFL off-season and free agency kicked off in full effect. The Dallas Cowboys remain the only team that has not made a single notable trade to improve upon their roster and strengthen their core. It has to be worrisome for fans to watch as Jerry Jones continues to claim he wants to see this team win a Super Bowl, but does not take advantage of the opportunity to make his team better.
Former wide receiver for the Cowboys and a certified legend of the game, Michael Irvin expressed his disappointment in Jerry Jones for his failure to make a move, especially when it came to Derrick Henry. A rather healthy discussion took shape on Undisputed.
Here is what Irvin had to say:
I was disappointed in losing Derrick and I was disappointed because...with the way that (last season) ended, I needed some kind of hope...Derrick Henry was that hope.Michael Irvin said
He continued:
I wanted a hammer and Derrick Henry is that hammer...I'm disappointed but I'm not destroyed, I'm not devastated...Michael Irvin added
Irvin was hoping that his former team would put in the effort and go the extra mile to bring Henry aboard. The team is virtually without a running back at this point after Tony Pollard signed with the Tennessee Titans. Henry signed with the Baltimore Ravens and now makes the team an offensive nightmare for defenses across the league.
.@MichaelIrvin88 was disappointed that his Cowboys missed on Derrick Henry:

The Dallas Cowboys could have enticed Derrick Henry to join their team
Derrick Henry’s new contract with the Ravens is for a period of two years and for $16 million. He gets an estimated $8 million per year, an amount that the Cowboys could have easily matched if not exceeded through an offer. The addition of Henry would have been valuable for the Cowboys’ offense. Despite the team’s issues through the years, in the last five years, the one position which they have seldom needed to worry about was the running back position.
With solid options such as Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard in recent years, the team has had consistent options at the position. But now, the team will face the daunting task of finding a worthy replacement for Pollard in order to ensure the team’s offense remains unaffected by the void left by his departure.
It is concerning to see that the Cowboys did not find it necessary to spring into action when their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants. The team has remained complacent so far in the off-season. Looks like Jerry Jones will stick to his practice of drafting players and developing them rather than relying upon trades.
