Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are Super Bowl contenders this season. They have been a consistent playoff team for the past few years and have been one of the top teams in the league. They came into their week one matchup against the New York Jets as favorites to win their division. However, the Bills lost in overtime to the Jets, mainly because of a terrible performance from the star QB.
Allen threw three interceptions and fumbled the football once as the Jets beat the Bills in thrilling fashion. After the game, Allen took responsibility for the team’s loss as he admitted to ‘forcing the ball’ downfield, leading to multiple picks. Former NFL player and current Fox Sports analyst Michael Irvin blamed HC Sean McDermott and star WR Stefon Diggs for the Bills’ loss on his show Undisputed.
“This is why I took the Buffalo Bills out of the playoffs. I knew something had been going on in Buffalo.” Irvin said on the show. “When he threw them deep balls, I said there is something going on. Now he’s trying to satisfy Diggs because no way he should be throwing that balls.”
He further accused Diggs and McDermott of ‘messing’ with Allen’s confidence. “Another problem I have with Diggs and his head coach. Stop telling that man [Josh Allen] ‘be smart, be smart’, because you’re telling everybody else ‘he’s dumb, he’s dumb.’ Stop doing that! Stop messing with his confidence.”
Allen and Diggs were involved in an incident during last year’s playoffs that caused a lot of people to believe that there was something wrong between the two. Since then, both of them have come out and refuted those rumors. Allen and Diggs have been an elite QB-WR duo since Diggs’ arrival in Buffalo and they will hope to bounce back from this loss in their next game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Josh Allen takes full accountability for the Buffalo Bills’ loss to the New York Jets
Josh Allen is one of the most talented QBs in the league. He has led the Buffalo Bills to playoffs in each of the last four seasons. The Bills are expected to make another deep playoff run this year. That potential run had a rocky start as they lost their first game to the New York Jets on Monday.
Allen turned the ball over four times and struggled throughout the night. After the game, he took full responsibility for the loss. “I hurt our team tonight. I cost our team tonight,” Allen said in his post-game interview. “This feels eerily similar to last year, and I hate that it’s the same, I do … The effort was there. Our guys played so hard. Defense gave us opportunities. They played a heck of a game. It sucks when you feel like you’re the reason, and I am the reason we lost tonight.”
Allen has the most turnovers in the NFL since 2018, and performances like the one on Monday have been a constant throughout his career. He will be hoping to have a better outing in the Bills’ next game against the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
