Dalvin Cook and the New York Jets have decided to part ways after the running back’s disappointing run with the team this season. Cook signed with the new-look Jets back in August with the hopes of making a Super Bowl run with an offense led by Aaron Rodgers, however, the entire season went for a toss after the quarterback went down in the first game with an Achilles tear. Cook has now signed with the Baltimore Ravens, the best team in the NFL and a potential lock for the Super Bowl.

Dalvin Cook‘s decision to join the Ravens has attracted mixed responses from fans and analysts alike. Cowboys’ legend and FOX Sports analyst Michael Irvin is not happy with the RB’s decision and believes he made a mistake by signing with the Ravens. Here is what he had to say on UNDISPUTED:

If you're trying to tell people that you're still valuable, then it's about the impact that you'll have in the playoffs to the team you're going to...No matter what you go do, the other 30-31 teams, they're going to say, 'What was your impact?

Irvin is viewing Cook’s signing from a different perspective. He pointed out that the Ravens sit atop the NFL with 2,555 yards rushing.

Dalvin Cook is going to a team that has a solid rush offense in place and if he intends to get paid this offseason by the Ravens or any other team in the NFL, he will have to show what impact he had in the playoffs and on the overall offense. When the Ravens are the best team in rushing without Cook, his addition and subsequent impact cannot be determined successfully.

Michael Irvin wanted to see Cook sign with the Dallas Cowboys. He continued:

If he had gone to Dallas and solidified that rushing game, played on that stage and made a difference, he could have revived interest in him...Why and how are you going to prove your worth when they are already where they are by rushing. How can you tell these other teams you've had an impact?

Michael Irvin does not understand Dalvin Cook’s decision because in the short term, he has a great chance to win a Super Bowl but he is diminishing his value and interest from other teams as he joined a team that would still be good without him. If he had gone to a team that has a shot to make the Super Bowl but is a bit shaky in terms of rushing and had made a positive impact there, then he would be giving teams all the more reason to be interested in him.

Michael Irvin stated, “that was a poor decision on Dalvin Cook’s part.” The running back was expected to have a significant impact on the Jets but he ends his tenure with the team with 67 carries, 214 yards, and 0 touchdowns. The Jets’ reliance on Breece Hall led to Cook getting fewer touches and being under-utilized. With the Ravens, Cook has a good chance to win his first Super Bowl ring.
