Michael Irvin is currently going through a tumultuous time in his life. The Hall of Famer was accused of harassment by a hotel employee and since then he’s been fighting an intense court battle.
However, that didn’t stop the NFL legend from sympathizing with another legend who just lost his son. Ray Lewis is a former linebacker who played for the Baltimore Ravens.
His son, Ray Lewis III, recently passed away from an unexpected overdose. The police were immediately called to the scene and pronounced him dead on June 14.
Lewis III’s funeral was attended by Irvin, among many other players. The former Cowboys WR posted a heartwarming message for his friend Ray Lewis on the tragic occasion of his son’s death.
“NO FATHER ??should ever have to bury his son! My heart bleeds for my brother @raylewis and his family??. There is NOT anything, anyone can say to ease this deapth of pain. Just know this MY BROTHER, we love you and God has you ????,” Michael Irvin stated on Twitter.
As expected, Irvin’s message was met with positive reactions on Twitter, and many shared the pain of the deaths of their loved ones. Irvin has always been a good friend of Ray Lewis, and the duo have been on pretty good terms since their playing days.
Stephen A. Smith vouches for Michael Irvin following his suspension
After the accusations made by the hotel employee came to light, Michael Irvin was swiftly suspended by the NFL Network and wasn’t even allowed to cover the Super Bowl. Since then, Irvin has been fighting relentlessly for his innocence and has filed a $100 lawsuit in return. Although many people oppose him, fellow NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith vouches for his ‘friend’.
The ESPN analyst recently made a glaring statement and believes that Irvin should be hired by ESPN as they can share the stage for the ‘First Take’. Smith believes in Irvin’s innocence and believes he’s being framed.
“I love him to death. And I think he makes great television. And I would never ever sit up there and tell anybody that I want anybody more than I want Michael Irvin,” Stephen A. Smith stated.
However, Michael Irvin is still fighting an uphill battle to get his old job back, or maybe something new. With ESPN currently eyeing an opportunity to sign him, things can change dramatically for him.
