With many teams striving to sign Dalvin Cook, former NFL analyst Michael Lombardi believes the Washington Commanders should lead the race. The Commanders are currently under transition after the new ownership and seriously lack a playmaker of Cook’s quality. Lombardi was featured on the Pat McAfee show and discussed the prospect of Cook signing for the Commanders. The sports commentator believes that the owners will make their mark by signing a marquee player as soon as they arrive.

“Washington to me should be all over Dalvin Cook because they need a running back that can be electric,” Michael Lombardi stated. “Washington is going through an ownership change, so, maybe that’s limiting how much funds they can spend. We’ll know about that come July 20, but I’m projecting that based on what I think would be the fits that would make the team better.”

The Commanders first priority is signing a big-name QB. However, there aren’t any available in the market now and they will have to settle with Dalvin Cook for now.

Dalvin Cook’s transfer saga has been quite interesting since the RB was released by the Minnesota Vikings at the start of the offseason. The 27-year-old is a talented RB and will be a valued asset to any team he signs for.

The Washington Commanders seriously need a spark. They have been terrible for several seasons now and it is the time to change. Dalvin Cook can be the flag bearer of this change.

The former Vikings RB is extremely proficient and brings in tons of experience. Additionally, Cook is also heavily versatile and can adopt different roles in the same team.

The Commanders have the rookie QB Sam Howell at the helm of things. Therefore, Michael Lombardi believes Cook’s addition can be beneficial to the team while also helping the rookie.

“If Washington had Dalvin Cook to go along with Sam Howell, a rookie, in Eric Bieniemy’s west coast offense, I think that would really take a lot of pressure off the young quarterback,” Michael Lombardi stated.

With many teams interested in his signature, it will be interesting to see where Dalvin Cook lands, eventually. However, there’s no denying that he can be extremely useful in the city of Washington.
