The New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is trying to revive his career following 2 injury-riddled seasons. Amidst this, Thomas is now facing legal issues as he was seen getting put into Kenner Police Department’s Patrol car following an altercation near his home in Kenner, Louisiana.
According to a report from WDSU 6, there was a heavy police presence in the Gabriel subdivision where Michael Thomas resides. The Saints wideout’s neighbors reportedly called the cops following an altercation between Thomas and his neighbor’s contractors.
The neighbor’s contractor, identified as Luis Cifuentes, told WDSU that Thomas threw a brick at his vehicle. Furthermore, when the alleged victim tried to record the incident, Thomas allegedly pushed him down.
Cifuentes was a contractor for a home that was under construction on Michael Thomas’ street. Tensions have been brewing between both since their construction workers were reportedly parking their vehicles on the road. And on Friday night, the altercation turned violent as Thomas reportedly threw two bricks at Cifuentes’ truck before shoving him away when he realized that he was being recorded.
Besides, WDSU also reported that the Saints’ former All-Pro receiver also told Luis Cifuentes that his vehicle would either get a bullet or a brick if the vehicles on the street weren’t moved. As of now, there are no records of Thomas being taken to a jail, and it is unsure if he’s facing any charges. But neighbors allegedly saw Kenner PD putting Thomas in their patrol car on Friday night.
This incident happened just a couple of weeks after one of the Saints’ other wide receivers, Chris Olave, got arrested by Kenner PD for driving twice the speed limit in a 35-mph zone.
Saints are aware of wide receiver Michael Thomas’ arrest
Following the alleged arrest of the Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas on Friday night, the New Orleans-based football team said that they are aware of the incident and are gathering more information.
Thomas is a big part of the Saints offense. The pass catcher facing legal issues just days ahead of their crucial week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings has caused concerns among fans.
Following a back-to-back injury-riddled season, Thomas was struggling to make an impact on the Saints. So far, in the 2023 season, Thomas has caught 38 passes for 439 yards and just 1 touchdown. But now, his legal issues have made things complicated for the 30-year-old wide receiver, who is looking to revive his career in New Orleans.
