Michael Thomas has experienced both the highs and the lows of NFL life. The 8-year-old veteran wide receiver has bagged several accolades, including the Offensive Player of the Year award in 2019.

However, injuries have hampered his career in recent seasons. Thomas’ recurring leg injuries continue to keep him off the field and stationary on the doctor’s table. A blow to the foot sent him to the injured reserve in 2022 after playing only 10 games.

Then, in 2023, the New Orleans Saints restructured Thomas’ 5-year, $96.3 million contract, which he signed in 2019. It allowed the Saints to save a few bucks on salary cap space. He later agreed to a one-year extension worth $15 million, with $6.3 million guaranteed.

Keeping that in mind, a recent article in The Times-Picayune written by Jeff Duncan indicated that the Saints are possibly parting ways with Michael Thomas. But the player himself has come out, nullifying the rumors. The 31-year-old shared several fiery posts on X (formerly Twitter), calling out Duncan.

Jeff Duncan, funny how they plan on releasing me if I am on a 1-year deal? Don’t fall for it; he's the same dude that tried to be my friend in season after saying I wasn’t the same player in training camp.

Michael Thomas’ rant continued

Not only that, in his next post, the former Ohio State player took the heat up a notch. He called Duncan ‘a h*e.’

Jeff Duncan is a h*e. I’m trying to stay relevant, so let’s speak on it. The Saints leak information to him to try to ruin players value, but see, I’m not broke, so I can speak on it.

He even shared a photo of Duncan with the caption,

Look at this [clown emoji]. Y'all think he know ball? Yeah, right. Y’all really clicking links to what he writes.

The Saints haven’t released any statement regarding either Michael Thomas’ release or the playmaker’s rant against a columnist. But Over the Cap revealed that the Saints will save around $1.2 million against their 2024 salary cap by cutting Thomas.

A second-round draft pick, the former Buckeye became one of the league’s most prolific receivers. In the four years of his NFL career, Thomas registered at least 90 catches and 1,100 receiving yards. During his OPY campaign in 2019, he racked up 149 catches for 1749 yards, scoring nine touchdowns.
