The last time the Michigan Wolverines and the Alabama Crimson Tide met each other before Monday’s Rose Bowl game was back in the 2020 Citrus Bowl, in which Bama ran out comfortable winners. Hardly anyone from those two teams is present on the current rosters, but the animosity between the two sets of players is genuine.
It rose to new heights after the controversial pick of Bama for the CFP semi-finals. So when Michigan beat the Tide through a Blake Corum 17-yard dash, over time they celebrated like madlads.
There was confetti all over the field after the final whistle. Players gathered around to make reels, and one of those blew up instantly on the internet. It was a TikTok clip from the account of Roman Wilson [wide receiver], which showed a few Michigan players trolling the Tide. “I don’t give a pis*,” was repeatedly uttered in the video.
After doing some digging, this taunting clip from the Wolves was a reply to another video that became a household sensation earlier in the year. YouTube personality ‘Druwski uploaded a video of him interviewing a few Bama players with a fake Southern accent on his channel. Naturally, the Michigan players also saw the video, hence the trolling.
The Michigan Wolverines will play in their first College Football Championship game since 1997
It has been a trying time for the Wolverines in 2023. All the alleged controversies surrounding head coach Jim Harbaugh regarding signal stealing. Not only that, but this could be his final season in Michigan if rumors are to be believed.

So it was all or nothing for Harbaugh against Alabama. The disappointment of the last couple of seasons was eating them from the inside, and they wanted some payback. Not only for themselves but for Florida State as well. For a brief period, they were hoping to face Florida State.
We were more shocked that Florida State didn’t make it. We weren’t worried about Bama. You guys saw the results. We got the dub, and that’s all that matters. Roses smell real good.Michigan defensive lineman Cam Goode said after the 27-20 win
It means Michigan will be playing a college football championship game for the first time since 1997. A certain unknown, Tom Brady, sat on the bench for the Blues that day, while Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback Charles Woodson led them to a 27-3 victory over Colorado. Before the 2023 season kicked off Brady had predicted his former side would be in the CFP finals.
Current Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy said after Monday night’s game, as per On3.com,
This game just means so much to me, and I have superstition like how they do the Stanley Cup. I didn’t touch it all week, and I was just waiting for this moment to put it in my mouth.
It means a week from now, on January 8, the Michigan Wolverines will face the Washington Huskies for the CFP Finals. The game will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
