Michigan State showed Adolf Hitler‘s image on the jumbotron at Spartan Stadium. This was part of their pregame quiz show before they took on their local rivals, the Michigan Wolverines. Needless to say, it wasn’t a masterstroke at all.
Things took a funny and awkward turn when Hitler and Austria, his birthplace, appeared on the board. Well, it was on full display long enough for social butterflies to click shots and upload them to the internet. In moments, it went viral and created quite a buzz among the netizens.
Later, Michigan State spokesperson Matt Larson addressed the embarrassing situation.
MSU is aware that inappropriate content by a third-party source was displayed on the video board prior to Sunday's game. We are deeply sorry for the content that was displayed.Statement from Matt Larson, Michigan State Associate AD/Communications
As a precautionary measure, MSU decided not to use any third-party content in the future.
MSU will not be using the third-party source going forward. We will implement stronger screening and approval procedures."
Michigan Wolverines ran riot over rival Michigan State
This was the first meeting of the two Michigan college football teams since their infamous tunnel brawl last season. It led to legal discipline for MSU players, which overshadowed their convincing win over the Wolves. However, it was a completely different ballgame this time around.

They kept aside whatever issues were plaguing them regarding the ongoing sexual harassment investigation of fired head coach Mel Tucker. The Wolverines torched the Michigan State team, which has been struggling throughout the season.
Going into the game, they were the firm favorites to bag their 8th straight victory, but no one expected a 49-0 beatdown. Wolves quarterback J.J. McCarthy capped off another impressive night. McCarthy already had 276 yards and three touchdowns halfway through the game. He was later given an early shower and eventually finished 21-for-27 for 287 yards and four touchdowns. Backups Jack Tuttle and Jayden Denegal both took some snaps at the dying embers of the match.
McCarthy’s top targets were his two tight ends, Colston Loveland and AJ Barner. They gained 99 and 79 yards, respectively, and added three touchdowns collectively. Blake Cornum led in the rushing with 15 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown, followed by Alex Orji with 5 for 27 and one endzone finish.
The Spartans, on the other hand, only had 190 yards, with quarterback Katin Houser struggling massively. This defeat leaves Michigan State with just two wins and five losses.
