Michigan vs TCU college football playoff game was one for ages. TCU survived the late surge by the Wolverines to win the game 51-45 in the Fiesta Bowl, which was watched by millions across the country, including Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
When the college football playoff committee ranked TCU ahead of powerhouses like Alabama and Tennessee in the CFB playoff rankings, some people questioned the committee’s decision since they thought that TCU could not hang with the big boys in the biggest stage of college sports in the USA. However, TCU has proved everyone wrong and showed the haters that they belong in the CFB playoffs.
TCU was blowing out Michigan in the first half of the game and took a commanding 21-6 lead at the halftime mark. But, Michigan steamrolled back and cut the lead down to 21-16 at one point, but TCU managed to get hold of the game back when they managed to score a touchdown within 2 mins, extending their lead. The offensive shootout continued, but some mistakes by Michigan proved to be costly, as they eventually ended up losing the game.
The game was filled with jaw-dropping moments, and it was definitely one of the most entertaining football games in the history of college football. However, a single call by the refs created some controversy as it led to a fumble by Michigan RB Kalel Mullings. Texas Tech alumni Patrick Mahomes took notice of that play.

Patrick Mahomes laughs at Michigan’s misery
The Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback couldn’t help but laugh at Michigan’s woes in the Fiesta Bowl. During the second quarter of the game, when Michigan was down 14-3, Michigan WR Roman Wilson caught a 50-yard bomb by his QB JJ McCarthy, which was first ruled a touchdown by the on-field officials.
Nonetheless, the call was overturned after a review that showed the receiver’s knee was down before the ball crossed the endzone. By college rules, if a player’s knee is down while he is carrying the ball, the player will be ruled down. He doesn’t have to be touched or tackled by a defensive player like in the NFL. After the call was overturned, Michigan RB Kalel Mullings fumbled the ball near the 1-yard line. A painful sequence of events for the Wolverines and Patrick Mahomes, who went to college at Texas Tech, mocked Michigan with a tweet.
“No way that was short lol and then a fumble,” tweeted Mahomes with three laughing emojis. The Horned Frogs caused a massive upset and will be heading to their second-ever National Championship game. They will be facing Georgia Bulldogs, who defeated Ohio State Buckeyes 42-41 in the Peach Bowl.
