“It’s not all about talent. It’s about dependability, consistency, and being able to improve.” This quote from Bill Belichick perfectly summarizes the career of Mike Evans. The wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently became only the second player in his position to have 1,000 receiving yards for 10 consecutive seasons. Evans achieved this feat in Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers.

Evans moved a step closer to Jerry Rice’s record of having 1,000 receiving yards for 11 consecutive seasons on Sunday and did so in dramatic fashion. QB Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans combined on a 75-yard play, which put him within 5 yards of achieving this feat.

An 11-yard play in the 4th quarter managed to get the wideout to 1,000 receiving yards on the season. Achieving the feat did not leave a good taste in his mouth as he went back to the sidelines and threw up immediately after.

In a season following the completion of which his future hangs in the balance as he is yet to sign an extension with the Bucs, Evans made a rock-solid case for why he deserves to be paid. With this record, Evans ties Randy Moss for most 1,000 receiving yard seasons. He becomes one of only three players in NFL history to ever have double-digit 1,000-yard seasons and is one of the betting favorites. Here is a guide to offshore sports betting.

This means Mike Evans is just a few more 1,000-yard receiving seasons shy of tying Jerry Rice and establishing himself as one of the most consistent wideouts in NFL history. Rice set the record between 1986 to 1996 and it is close to being broken nearly three decades later.

Mike Evans unhinged by the changes at the QB position

In the NFL, it is hard to be great, and while elite players including Hall of Famers have had stellar performances over multiple seasons, especially at the wide receiver position, not even a handful of them have been able to manage to be consistent for this long.

The league has seen a lot of on-hit wonders, players who have one or two good seasons and then are just not the same anymore, for a wideout, it is even harder to be this good for this long because it is one of the riskiest positions as the odds of getting injured are through the roof. Evans has had issues in the past with his hamstring and left knee, however, it has not limited him from showing up and showing out every single game.

It is not the mere fact that Evans has managed to achieve this feat every single year since being drafted seventh overall in the 2014 draft, but he has managed to remain unhinged by the changes at the QB position.

The Buccaneers have played 5 different quarterbacks since 2014 and there have been seasons wherein the team has alternated between QBs, however, none of that has ever come in the way of Mike Evans doing his job. The Buccaneers had gained notoriety for having losing seasons, despite the team’s dismal records year after year, Mike Evans has always shown up and done his job.

That must be one of the more admirable and respectable aspects of the receiver. He has never been a player who makes a lot of noise and causes drama in the locker room or elsewhere. His name is not circulated in the media as often as Tyreek Hill or A.J. Brown, but best to believe, it does not mean he has fallen off or is slacking.

He continues to put up numbers silently and consistently. It is no doubt that Mike Evans will in all likelihood be the man to dethrone Jerry Rice and take the title of the most consistent wideout in NFL history from him in the next two years.
