The 2024 NFL offseason is going to be long and loads of deals are expected to create shockwaves across the football world. Among them, the deal for Mike Evans is already creating immense buzz. Evans is set to hit the free agency for the first time in his career. However, the WR has demanded the same amount of money that he used to get in the prime.

The WR is rumored to be re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, there is one thing that can hamper the prospective deal. The amount of money he is asking for. As per sources, the WR is asking for a deal worth $25-$30 million, which can create some trouble for him, as the Buccaneers have $37 million cap space left.

The Bucs had done well last season. Despite a slow start, the Bucs managed to achieve a place in the postseason. They faced the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round. The team managed to win the game and marched on to the Divisional round. The quarterback Baker Mayfield has established himself in the team. With the support of Evans, the QB had done pretty well. Now, if the Bucs have to do well in the coming season too, they will want to re-sign the veteran WR.

However, it will be difficult for the Bucs to get his deal done with $37 million left in the cap. Not only Evans but Mayfield is also set to hit the free agency. No doubt, the situation will be difficult for the Bucs.

Social media reacts to Mike Evans’ hefty ask

Mike Evans is one of the most consistent wide receivers in the league. For the past ten years, the wide receiver has covered 1,000 receiving yards. His second-best season came last year when the WR covered 1,255 yards with 79 receptions and 13 touchdowns. It helped the Bucs to manage its place in the postseason.

Despite being so consistent, the WR’s demand of $25-$30 million did not sit well with the fans. Since football is a quarterback’s game, fans welcome much higher deals for the QBs. They remain skeptical about the WRs and more so for running backs.

Following the recent supposed ask from Evans, netizens made some comments on social media. They said that a WR should not get that much money. Check out some of the comments that they made.

Considering the performance of Evans, it is expected that the WR will have various offers. It is to be seen where he lands in the coming time.
