The most exciting part about the NFL offseason for fans is to see where their favorite players who went into free agency may land for the next season or to see whom their favorite teams add to build a strong roster.

This offseason, the prime destination for the free agency is Houston Texans, which will begin from March 15. The franchise has predesigned a huge salary cap space of $66 million intending to add players with the potential to lead the team beyond the divisional round in the playoffs and end their Super Bowl drought, to their roster.

As per the reports, the Texans are in search of veteran wide receivers to uplight the impressive faction of  Tank Dell and Nico Collins. And one of their targeted free agents is Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans

The reason for that is Evans is the ninth receiver to hold the record of 1,255 receiving yards in the 2023 regular season and the first to log 13 receiving yards. With him on the roster, the Texans can build one of the best offenses in the NFL under the guidance of head coach DeMeco Ryans

Evans, who is counted among the top-tier receivers in the NFL, had been with the Bucs since his draft in 2014. But his decision to go as a free agent ahead of the 2024 season, is hugely influenced by money. The receiver expects his salary cap to be in the vicinity of two of the largest contracts among receivers held by Tyreek Hill at $30 million and Davante Adams at $28 million.

Given that, the NFL sources revealed Evans is likely to command a contract worth between $25 to $30 million per year. However, there are chances that the Texans might not look to cover  Evans’ expected salary range as more than 30 wide receivers are entering free agency and their top receiver Collins is eligible for a contract extension this offseason.

Fans react to Mike Evans’ high salary expectations

Regardless of whether the Texans would be able to match WR Evans’ salary cap or not, fans don’t seem to agree that the 30-year-old deserves such a huge contract.

Many even pointed out how the franchise already made a stretch to fit Collins in the roster, therefore pursuing Evans at such a price is highly unlikely. One fan wrote, “Way too much at his age C’mon man,” while another said, “Yeah right that’s to much for an older wide out I’d say 18 to 20 a year on a 3 year deal.” Here are some of the reactions:

Seeing fans’ reactions, it sure will be exciting to see where Evans lands in the offseason.
