Just a few days ago, the Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill got into trouble after he allegedly punched an elderly man during a dispute at a South Florida marina. NFL had no comments regarding it immediately after the incident. However, now, NBC Sports analyst Mike Florio has confirmed that the league has indeed launched an investigation into the assault incident.
“NFL has commenced an investigation into this latest incident,” claimed Florio in a recent episode of the NBC show Pro Football Talk. “The NFL wants the surveillance footage. It wants to talk to police officers. It’s doing what it should be doing.”
“Now, here’s the reality. The NFL has developed a habit in recent years of not proceeding with a personal conduct policy investigation and or punishment if there’s a criminal process that is still active,” said Mike Florio. “The league won’t be doing anything, most likely until the criminal process ends.”
Florio made it clear that as long as the criminal process is still undergoing, the league won’t be giving out any punishments or suspensions. Furthermore, if Hill was to be punished for his acts in this incident, the penalty could be enhanced due to the Pro Bowl receiver’s history.
Back in 2015, Hill pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-pregnant girlfriend. That could play a huge role in the league deciding Hill’s punishment if he is to be found guilty.
This confirmation comes just a few days after Tyreek Hill was accused of trying to bribe the victim by giving him 200 dollars to close the investigation per reports. During Father’s Day last month, Hill reportedly got into an altercation with a yacht captain, who told the Dolphins receiver to get off the boat. Hill allegedly refused and told the alleged victim that he could buy him and his boat with his money.

How likely is Tyreek Hill’s suspension?
The NFL has officially launched an investigation regarding Tyreek Hill’s alleged assault incident. So, how likely it is for the Dolphins’ Pro Bowl receiver to miss games in 2023?
Well, the league has the right to suspend any player at any time if they found out that the player has violated their conduct policy. A player doesn’t necessarily have to be charged for the league to hand out a suspension.
However, the investigation takes a long-long time when it comes to the NFL. The New Orleans Saints running Alvin Kamara, who allegedly assaulted a man in Las Vegas back in 2022, still hasn’t received his punishment yet.
The same is expected to happen to Tyreek Hill. Even if Hill was found guilty of punching a man, a suspension is highly unlikely to happen in 2023. If Hill was facing punishment, he would receive it in 2024.
